Tax Exemption for Schools, Nonprofits, and Resale Customers
Qualifying customers can upload a tax exemption certificate from their IndyDTF account for our team to review. Once IndyDTF approves it, you can apply the exemption at cart and checkout while logged in to that account.
You must be logged in before submitting tax exemption documents.
Guest checkout is always taxed.
Uploading a certificate does not remove sales tax right away. IndyDTF reviews and approves each document first.
How it works
Three steps to tax-exempt ordering

Log in to your IndyDTF account
The Tax Exemption tool lives in My Account under Account Settings. Log in, or create an account first if you do not have one yet. Submissions are tied to your account, so there is no guest upload.

Upload your certificate
Fill out the form and attach your tax exemption certificate. Accepted file types are PDF, JPG, PNG, and WEBP, up to 10 MB.

- Contact name
- Contact email
- State
- Certificate number (optional)
- Expiration date (optional)
- Certificate file
Your status shows on the same page. New or replacement documents return your status to Pending review until IndyDTF approves them.

Use it at checkout after approval
Once your certificate is approved, you will see an "Apply tax exemption to this order" checkbox in your cart and at checkout while logged in.
- Checked: tax exemption applies to that order.
- Unchecked: sales tax is charged.
Only check the box for purchases made for the approved organization. For personal purchases, leave it unchecked so sales tax is charged.

Good to know
- Approval is reviewed by IndyDTF staff.
- Tax exemption applies only after approval.
- If your certificate expires or you upload new paperwork, review may be required again.
- Use the exemption only for qualifying organization purchases.
- Personal orders should be placed with the checkbox unchecked.
- Guest checkout is always taxed. Log in to your approved account before checking out.
